In some instances, only a temporary coding is required. At one point, the ink must be removed without leaving any residues. This requirement has led to the development of a fast-drying ink as well as an ethanol-based ink.
Water-soluble ink for non-permanent coding
To trace a raw material from start to finish of a production process, a code must be applied to the material. However, the coding is no longer necessary on the finished product and should be removed without a trace. We have developed a black fast-drying CIJ ink that can be removed residue-free simply with water.
Furthermore, water-soluble inks can be utilised as wetness indicators, for instance in the production of sanitary products such as diapers. Once the printed ink has been dissolved by water, an absorbent material will absorb the ink. Consequently, the marking is no longer visible. The ink should be formulated in such a way that skin contact is not problematic. We currently have inks in black and blue.
The images above show an example of a newly developed ink printed on PE foil. A drop of water dissolves the printed ink. With an absorbent tissue, the water/ink mixture can be removed without leaving a coloured trace.
